Microcity as a Factor of Socialization

Abstract: 
The article offers a characteristic of microcity as a factor of socialization of its inhabitants, first of all of the younger generations. The socio-cultural infrastructure of microcity socialization is revealed, the components of socio-psychological atmosphere are described. Research methods. Phenomenological and environmental approaches, which together allowed us to characterize the microcity as a factor of socialization, became the leading ones in the study. The following methods were used in the research: monographic study of microcities; in-depth interviews; data obtained from informants and experts; analysis of population census data; study of Internet resources (websites of microcities and their administrations, educational organizations, etc.). Research results. Based on the study of six micro-towns in the European part of Russia, supplemented by familiarization with a number of other similar settlements, significant differences between a micro-town and a small town were revealed. The specifics of sociocultural infrastructure of socialization in a microcity, socio-psychological atmosphere of socialization in a microcity are shown. Conclusion. Microcity can be considered as a factor of socialization, represents a zone of the nearest development first of all of the younger generations Materials of the research are used in teaching of a number of courses in psycho-pedagogical and other socio-humanitarian universities and colleges.
