Abstract:
The article highlights the problem of selecting, organizing and methodical processing of foreign-language fairy tales as a means of forming traditional family values among students at a secondary school. Such values are the embodiment of Russia’s national idea, the foundation of our cultural identity, and they shape the work of all social institutions, including the foreign-language education system. The purpose of this article is to provide a theoretical basis for the selection, organization and methodical processing of foreign-language fairy tales as an effective means of determining traditional family values among secondary school students. The research methodology is based on the ideas of methodical and artistic axiology in foreign-language teaching, which allowed us to theoretically substantiate a system of consistent selection, organization and methodical processing of foreign-language fairy tales for determining traditional family values among secondary school students. The fairy tale is considered in the study as a sociocultural phenomenon that reflects spiritual values of language speakers. Results of the research. Based on the principles of holistic reflection of the tasks of harmonious personal development and the formation of students’ basic culture in the content of fairy tales, its compliance with students’ individual and typological characteristics, cultural value, genre diversity, emotional and value significance, as well as the criterion of conforming with traditional family values fairy tales of different types are selected: magical, household, animal-themed and cumulative. A critical analysis of their content revealed that traditional family values are reflected in fairy tales of all types, but most vividly in cumulative ones. The organization of fairy-tale texts is related to their external design, which involves following the principles of simplicity, accessibility and emotional expressiveness. The methodological processing of foreign-language fairy tales is aimed at adapting them for educational purposes. It is concluded that the selection, organization, and methodical processing of foreign-language fairy tales, as well as their accompaniment with the necessary activity components of teaching, allow foreign-language fairy tales to become an effective means of forming traditional family values in students.
