In the article the necessity of consideration of participation in online communities from the point of view of controlling behavior within an integrative approach. The results of the analysis of statements of the participants in the Internet forum allows to make a conclusion that participation in virtual communities can be considered in three interrelated aspects: as a coping resource, independent coping strategies and means of realizing other coping strategies.
