Foreign Language Online Teaching of Bachelors at Language Universities. For or Against?

Abstract: 
This article shows how the Pandemic Covid-19 corrected the teaching process, and in language universities, along with offline teaching, such forms of teaching as online and mixed (a combination of online and offline forms) have become widespread. The purpose of the article is to define the most effective teaching form of foreign language studies in language universities, in particular, in such university disciplines as “Conversation”, “Writing”, “Phonetics”, “Grammar” and to formulate recommendations about teachers’ labour and time optimization during the preparation to online lessons. Research methodology and methods include: the analysis and the synthesis of scientific literature; conducting an experiment; using of statistical methods – method of calculating the coefficients, and methods of oral and written questioning: questionnaires and interviews; the comparison of the received data. The results of the research. The paper has the results of students’ preference in teaching form (offline, online or mixed) and the results of the experimental teaching of “Conversation”, “Writing”, “Phonetics” and “Grammar” in different forms. Conclusion. The authors wrote in the conclusion about using of new methods and techniques and their positive results in online teaching of all kinds of speech activities and language aspects. Nevertheless, it was found that for different kind of speech activity and language aspect different form of teaching is preferable. The recommendations on online teaching are given to university teachers based on the authors’ pedagogical experience and conducted experiment.
