On the 90th anniversary of the Department of Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism of Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University

Abstract: 
Introduction. The Department of Geography (the modern name is the Department of Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism) was established at the foundation of our university in 1935. However, generalizations on the history of the formation and development of this department are still missing. The purpose of the work is to provide a brief overview of the 90–year history of the Department of Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism of Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University. Methodology and research methods. The study is based on a retrospective analysis of the materials of the NSPU Archive, literary sources and data from the Scientific Electronic Library. e-library.ru and the NSPU Libraries. The main stages of the department’s development are dictated by the development of our university. Some of the achievements of her team are highlighted as a result of generalization of the available source material. Results and discussion. A brief outline of the history of the Department of Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism from the year of its foundation to the present is presented, the stages of its development are highlighted, some of the results of the team’s work at these stages are noted, and brief biographical information about the teachers who made the most significant contribution to the achievements of the department is presented. Conclusion. As a result of a retrospective analysis of the available materials, the history of the formation and development of the Department of Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism has been traced.
