History of the Faculty of History NSPI/NSPU in the Biographies of V. F. Tsyba and V. I. Sobolev

Abstract: 
The study of the history of the Faculty of History (Institute of History, Humanities and Social Education) of Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University is inseparably linked with the reconstruction of the biographies of its leaders, who made the significant contribution to its foundation, development and stability. The article reveals the basic information of the professional biographies of V. F. Tsyba (1906–1976) and V. I. Sobolev (1948–1999), who in different years were the deans of the Faculty of History and held the posts of vice-rectors of NSPI/NSPU. The main sources of the study are previously not published documents from the NSPU archive, information from the NSPU museum, published memoirs of the activities of the scientists left by their colleagues and students, reference books. The purpose of the article is to reconstruct the biographies of V. F. Tsyba and V. I. Sobolev in the context of the historical stages of the Faculty of History of NSPI and the country. Research methodology. The work was carried out within the framework of an interdisciplinary approach; general scientific methods, methods of historical and pedagogical research. The methodological basis is the main approaches of the “personal history”, considering the history of a person’s life in all its uniqueness in the context of historical events of a specific historical period. Results of the study. During the study, the biographies of the deans of the Faculty of History of NSPI V. F. Tsyba (1948–1950) and V. I. Sobolev (1983–1988) were reconstructed in the context of the history of the country and the history of NSPI. In the conclusion are summed up the role and contribution of famous historians and talented leaders V. F. Tsyba and V. I. Sobolev in the history, organization and development of the Faculty of History in the 1940s–1990s, in the creation of the faculty’s special atmosphere, and the formation of the pedagogical basis for the “tradition of deeds and tradition of relationships” of the modern Institute of History, Humanities and Social Education of NSPU.
