ENGLISH LESSON AS THE INTERSECTION FOR A MEETING OF TWO CULTURES
Abstract:
The present article deals with the problem of development of sociocultural competence of the future foreign language teacher, which is necessary for cross-cultural communication with a native speaker of English. Studying this issue we could find that many theoretical and empirical researches concerning the problem of sociocultural views were conducted. Relying on the studied literature and personal teaching experience the author tries to focus the readers’ attention to ways of improving cross-cultural competence of the future teachers during the practical course of English.
Besides, the number of exercises, methods and concrete recommendations for effective lesson planning are offered. The author believes that students’ immersion into different types of creative activities , such as Community Language Learning; Games; Role – play and simulations; Drama; Projects; Interview; Brainstorming; Information Gap; Jigsaw; Problem – solving and decision making; Opinion exchange methods will yield positive results and will prepare the students for cross-cultural dialogue.
