Advancing the Concept of Pedagogical Authorship

Abstract:
Modern pedagogical science requires conceptualizing the active and generative role of the teacher within a dynamic educational environment. The aim of the article is to theoretically substantiate the introduction of the concept of “pedagogical authorship” into the scientific apparatus of pedagogy in the context of the theory of professional development of a teacher. The methodological basis of the research comprises systemic and acmeological approaches to teacher professional development. Methods of critical analysis of scientific literature, conceptualterminological analysis, structural-functional analysis, and conceptual synthesis were applied. The article analyzes contemporary domestic and international scientific approaches to studying the teacher’s generative activity; identifies existing definitions and their limitations; and performs a conceptual demarcation of “pedagogical authorship” from related concepts such as “pedagogical creativity,” “educational innovations,” and “pedagogical design.” Pedagogical authorship is defined as a form of professional self-realization, expressed in the creation of pedagogical works based on reflexive understanding of the experience and personal and professional position of the teacher. The systemic nature of pedagogical authorship is revealed, its essential characteristics are described, and its role in the professional development of the teacher is shown. The introduced concept has significant explanatory and practical potential: for theory – it enriches the understanding of professional development, the driving forces of creativity and innovation; for practice – it sets guidelines for the modernization of personnel policy in educational organizations.
