Game Techniques in Teaching Written Speech as a Tool for Developing Intellectual-Competitive Competence

Abstract: 
The primary task of the teacher is related to the professional guidelines of future specialists. The skill of written speech is difficult for students, since it requires creative activity of speech and thinking activity in a limited period of time. Completion of written assignments is required when passing state and certification exams, as well as when participating in various intellectual competitions. Gamification is one of the pedagogical techniques in teaching English in order to activate creative abilities, while the ultimate goal is the development of intellectual and competitive competence (ICC). The purpose of the article is to substantiate the effectiveness of game techniques in teaching written speech as a tool for developing intellectual and competitive competence. The methodological basis of the study was the praxeological approach in the application of gamification techniques in the development of written speech in English, the research methods include a systematic review of methodological materials and pedagogical resources related to gamification in teaching and the development of ICC. Research results. Based on the theoretical analysis of pedagogical provisions and methodological materials, the expediency of using game techniques for both developing writing skills and intellectual and competitive competence is confirmed. However, the goals, content, assessment criteria, format and individualization should be adapted to the specific tasks and needs of students. Conclusion. The effectiveness of game techniques lies in their multifunctionality, meta-subjectivity and universality depending on their resource content.
