Abstract: 
Introduction to the problem. In the article the authors consider such an important phenomenon as the institution of curatorship. The work of the curator is presented to the authors as one of the most effective ways to adapt first-year students of the Institute of history, Humanities and social education of the Novosibirsk state pedagogical University TO the new conditions. The authors believe that curating is one of the most effective methods of adaptation, which has great potential for the formation of a harmonious development of the personality of students. Diffrent pedagogical techniques and methods used by the curator, help to realize the social, creative, research, and cognitive capabilities of the student and prepare him for further independent educational and social activities. The purpose of the article is to present their own practical experience of many years of work as curators of first-year students of the Institute of history, Humanities and social education of the Novosibirsk state pedagogical University. The authors consider that the Institute of curatorship in the University is necessary, as it allows you to plan and conduct educational work with freshmen both within the Institute (faculty) and the whole University. Effective work of the curator significantly increases the level of communication, social activity and professional interest of first-year students. In conclusion, the authors emphasize the importance of the Institute of curatorship as a factor of effective adaptation of students and their involvement in social, creative, sports, research, scientific and professional activities of the Institute of history, Humanities and social education of the Novosibirsk state pedagogical University.
