ESSENCE AND STRUCTURE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE ETHNOCULTURAL COMPETENCE OF HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract: 
The aim of the article is to analyze the phenomenon of foreign language ethno-cultural competence from the perspective of modern methodological science. The article considers the prerequisite for the allocation of the named competence as an independent segment of communicative foreign language competence; it also proposes the definitional content of the term, substantiates and describes the components of foreign language ethno-cultural competence. These components are the following: ethno-linguistic, ethno-linguo-crosscultural, ethno-linguo-psychological, compensatory and reflexive-evaluative components. Relevance. Preparing young people for life in the multicultural world is an important component of the socialization process and reveals the need to form a patriotically-minded citizen of the country who respects other world cultures and is tolerant to any ethnic characteristic of social medium of other countries. Methodology. The theoretical analysis of the foreign-language ethnocultural competence allowed us clarifying the content of the term and also substantiate and describe the constituent components of the foreign-language ethnocultural competence. As diagnostic tools, the authors used a interviewing and survey of high-school students. The article presents an analysis of the data obtained in percentage, followed by analytical conclusions. Conclusion. The article concludes with a summary of the research performed and also reveals the practical significance of the formation of a foreign-language ethno-cultural competence of high-school students.
