Monitoring of Research Competence Formation of Students Majoring in Linguistics

Abstract: 
Introduction. The article deals with the problems of research competence monitoring in the context of educational system modernization. The purpose of our article is to present the main aspects of monitoring of the student’s research competence. The process of developing research competence involves several stages. According to the title, the article represents the technology for monitoring of research competence. Methodology and research methods. The methodological basis of this study is the pedagogical theory of development of competence and the competency-based approach to learning. The main methods are analysis, pedagogical experiment, questioning. The professional competence of a specialist can be represented as a multilevel structure. Monitoring is sometimes considered as an independent function of managing the educational process in pedagogical science. Monitoring anticipates existing of certain shortcomings and ways of elimination them. As the title implies the article describes the technology of research competence’s monitoring. This competence includes eight main skills on base level. Results of research are received by using methods of questioning, analysis and pedagogical experiment. The article gives valuable information on the structure of research competence. Statistic data about the research competence’s development and results of the experiment are exposed in the article. There are 5 levels of research competence: Low, basic, medium, high and advanced level. The research was conducted with second-year students at the end of the learning process. Conclusion. The purpose of the research was to determine the level of formation of certain skills. These skills related with the ability to find out the relevance of the topic and formulate the purpose, objectives and results of the research. The effectiveness research competence’s monitoring depends on the monitoring technology, a description of the criteria for the skills’ formation that are included to the structure as part of the research competence.
