The problem of educating person’s discipline can be classified as universal, eternal and general scientific. It has always bothered philosophers, historians, sociologists, psychologists and educators. The article traces back the genesis of the term “discipline”. It is shown that the meaning of the termdepends on social values of the society.Due to this, one of the most important components of upbringing adisciplined personality today is considered to be the attitude towards personality as a person of value. The importance of further categorical studies of the problem is being emphasized.
