Present a system of classes for the formation of students’ research competencies. Methodology. The methodological basis of the work is the praxeological approach and its particular case – pedagogical praxeology. Research results. In the process of teaching the discipline “Technology of organizing independent work”, a system of classes was developed, the main purpose of which is to form research competencies among 1st year students. Tasks for students are designed to develop skills in working with scientific texts, to form an understanding of the need for systematic research throughout the years of study, to participate in conferences and to publish. The received materials can become the basis of term papers and theses. Conclusion. A clearly structured system of classes and tasks aimed at developing research competencies gives good results. Senior students claim that the developed skills of preparing a bibliographic list helped them in their work on abstracts, term papers, and publications. Most of them conduct research activities, participate in conferences, have published abstracts, about half have left or clarified the topic chosen in the 1st course. The rest of the students completely changed the direction of their research activities.
